About the role
An established firm based in Towson, MD (with offices in Bethesda and Richmond, VA) with over 100 years in practice is seeking a Commercial Litigator with 5-10 years of experience to join its collaborative team in a flexible work environment.
Responsibilities
- Represent clients in construction, surety, and commercial disputes from initial investigation through trial and appeal
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, legal memoranda, and other litigation-related filings
- Conduct and defend depositions and manage all aspects of written discovery
- Handle court appearances, hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations
- Provide practical and strategic advice to clients regarding litigation risks and case strategy
- Work independently while collaborating closely with partners and senior attorneys on complex matters
- Maintain strong client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of the practice
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active membership in the Maryland Bar with DC or Virginia admission considered a plus
- 5-10 years of commercial litigation experience including significant courtroom and deposition experience
- Strong analytical, legal writing, negotiation, and advocacy skills
- Ability to independently manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Experience representing contractors, subcontractors, design professionals, or sureties is highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic legal counsel and develop strong client relationships
