The primary function of this role is to drive profitable growth, strengthen agency relationships, and successfully manage a voluntary commercial auto book. The position is responsible for evaluating new and renewal business in accordance with the company's underwriting practices. Candidate will be hired at the appropriate level based on experience. Key Responsibilities Evaluate new and renewal business. Makes profitable individual risk selection/judgments/recommendations within authority, based on Arbella’s underwriting philosophies and guidelinesAbility to review and accurately process endorsement requestsMaintain accurate underwriting documentation and information to meet underwriting guidelines and authorityEffectively manage a book of voluntary commercial auto business within the underwriting territory to provide excellent service to our agents, and meet company financial objectivesProvides timely, courteous and efficient service regarding underwriting and related matters to internal and external stakeholders.Ability to effectively communicate the company appetite, products, and guidelines to our agentsBuild and develop agency relationships with visits (in-person and virtual). Leverage agency relationships to help with company growth and retention initiativesCollaborate with Marketing to help manage the assigned underwriting territoryThrough ongoing education and training, maintain current skills and increase professional development of underwriting skills. Staying current on market conditions and industry trends is critical.Ability to work independently in identifying risk/exposure, negotiating pricing, and understanding coverage Key Requirements 3+ years of experience in commercial lines underwriting or a related role within the industryKnowledge of commercial auto (coverages, terms, concepts)Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experienceInsurance education/designations preferredStrong understanding of insurance industry practices, underwriting principles, and risk evaluationStrong communication, organizational, and time management skills Our current reasonable and good faith estimate of the annual salary wage range for this position is approximately $70,000 to $80,000 CL Underwriter and $80,000 to $100,000 Sr. CL Underwriter based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, educational background and certifications, performance and qualifications, market demand for the role and other organizational needs.
