Commercial Lines Auto Products Director (hybrid/remote)

About the Role

In this role, you will strategically position Grange’s Auto products and services to meet customer and agent needs, building company revenues and driving differentiation. This position could be at the Director or Manager level based on relevant experience.

You will have full accountability for product profit and loss, developing and implementing business plans to maximize Commercial Lines’ profit and growth across the auto line of business.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate, and enable a team of professionals to accomplish business objectives, including indirect reports within Commercial Lines and personnel in supporting departments (e.g., marketing, claims, information technology).
• Establish and implement business strategy, including:
  • Product development, pricing, and implementation processes (run-off and new products).
  • Underwriting guidelines and portfolio mix planning.
  • Development of product contracts, forms, and endorsements.
  • Expense control (including commissions) and fee generation.
  • Bill plan selection and bad debt processing.
  • CAT mitigation efforts.
• Work with Sales & Marketing and underwriting teams to influence agencies to adopt new technologies and best practices in the sales and service of Commercial Lines products.
• Oversee and lead development of new programs and niche classes in conjunction with Specialty Underwriting Leaders.
• Lead the Commercial Lines compliance function for Auto product lines, ensuring products and rates follow all applicable statutes and regulations.
• Lead the Commercial Lines competitive analysis function in assigned product lines, staying current with industry trends and peer competitors’ actions.
• Lead all communications around auto products internally (to underwriters, techs, and upper management) and externally (to agents).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; advanced degree and/or professional designation (e.g., CPCU) strongly preferred.
• One or more years of product management profit and loss responsibility, with an emphasis on commercial auto lines of business.
• Multiple years of commercial underwriting experience strongly desired.
• Superior problem-solving and analytical skills with a proven ability to make data-driven decisions.
• Ability to develop and lead a highly collaborative and team-oriented environment.
• Ability to develop and execute a business strategy/vision.
