About the role

An OTG Commercial Kitchen Service Technician troubleshoots and fixes restaurant equipment. In this role, you will repair kitchen appliances, perform regular maintenance, communicate with food industry professionals, and ensure cooking appliances operate properly. You will also keep logs of repairs and needed services, install new kitchen equipment, maintain a neat and orderly workstation, and provide excellent customer service to restaurant professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Install new commercial kitchen equipment to include dishwashers, conveyers, ovens, stoves, kettles, fryers, steamers, and ice machines.
  • Diagnose commercial cooking equipment performance through observation, testing, and setup.
  • Disassemble and reassemble equipment to perform troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, gauges, and measuring equipment to perform service on the unit.
  • Lift, carry, pull, and push components and/or equipment to test, set up, or maintain equipment.
  • Give and take written and verbal instructions.
  • Complete documents to verify work performed.
  • Work flexible hours as required.
  • Monitor truck stock and ensure necessary supplies make it from the warehouse to the kitchen.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Burn and fire watch certificates a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with plumbing, electrical, and copper work as it pertains to new installations.
  • Diagnostic ability as demonstrated through a minimum of 2 years’ experience and/or training in commercial cooking equipment such as fryers, grills.
  • Ability to competently use a variety of meters, measuring instruments, torches, and hand tools.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers.
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure, and without close supervision; willing and able to consistently work the schedule required by job demands.
  • Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force (pulling, pushing, lifting, carrying, etc.) regularly and up to 50 pounds of force frequently.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, twist, grasp to perform essential job functions.
  • Ability to tolerate environmental conditions consisting of extreme heat, cold, noise, vibration, fumes, dust, and poor ventilation.

Pay

$35 - $47 per hour
