About the role

We are seeking a dependable Journeyman Electrician with Commercial and Industrial experience to join our team. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong technical expertise, adhere to the highest safety standards, and is capable of mentoring apprentices while working independently or as part of a crew.

Responsibilities

  • Apply complete and thorough knowledge of all electrical tasks as needed in commercial, industrial or residential electrical installation.
  • Responsible for laying out, assembling, installing, testing, troubleshooting and repairing electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices and related equipment in customer locations, buildings and structures.
  • Perform all types of wire terminations.
  • Troubleshoot all electrical systems, as required.
  • Demonstrate complete and thorough knowledge of all electrical materials and tools.
  • Acquire and maintain personal hand tools per Company policy.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and understand blueprints, drawings and work orders.
  • Direct, mentor and coach apprentices and helpers; monitor work progress.
  • Responsible for accurate coding of timecards and proper completion of time and material sheets as required.
  • Collaborate with a crew of electricians or other jobsite tradespeople.
  • Ensure that all materials, tools and equipment are maintained in an orderly and safe working fashion.
  • Maintain clean, safe work areas.
  • Communicate with other employees, management and customers in a professional manner.
  • Utilize testing equipment to verify system functionality and troubleshoot electrical issues.
  • Conform to company policies, procedures and safety requirements.

Requirements

  • Work independently with minimal supervision and supervise crew members to ensure projects are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain working knowledge of applicable electrical codes, including NEC and NFPA standards.
  • Proficiency in testing electrical systems.
  • A working knowledge of Control Wiring is a plus.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks such as digging trenches, either by use of hand tools or power equipment, laying conduit or moving or lifting heavy objects.
  • Capable of operating two-handed tools/equipment, cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, jack hammers, etc.
  • As required, operate and work from mechanical hydraulic lifts (electric or gas powered).
  • Operate company trucks in a safe manner, as required.
  • Operate equipment (i.e., trenchers and backhoes) in a safe manner, as required.
  • Ability to follow instructions.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, depending on job location and season (heat, cold, rain, snow).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., and perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, reaching, squatting, crawling, climbing, kneeling, balancing, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead for extended periods.
  • Frequent walking and repetitive hand/arm/finger movements.
  • Must have normal or corrected vision and be able to safely perform all visual functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to properly identify wire colors including distinguishing between shades of color and brightness in order to splice, join and connect wires to fixtures and components to create circuits.
  • Must possess sufficient hearing ability, with or without corrective devices, to effectively communicate with others, respond to audible alarms and warnings, and safely perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to work in noisy environments.
  • Ability to work on ladders of various types up to 14’, extension ladders, or relocate a 12’ step ladder independently.
  • Ability to safely comply with manufacturer-rated load capacities on ladders (combined body weight and tools must not exceed: 250 lbs (for Class 1), or 300 lbs (for Class 1A)).
  • Capable of working at heights up to 60’ on ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, roofs or other safe platforms.
  • Ability to work in confined or restricted spaces, as required.
  • Must be able to use construction site sanitary facilities, including portable restrooms.
  • Must always wear PPE on the job site: hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest, safety shoes, gloves, harness, etc. and any additional PPE required by the customer.
  • Must be able to work scheduled hours, with overtime and potential night shifts, as required, on short notice.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Accredited Apprenticeship Program completion or seven years equivalent work experience required.
  • Journeyman License requirement in state, locales, or projects, as required.
  • Valid Driver’s License, satisfactory driving record and reliable transportation required.
  • OSHA 10-hour and MEWP (Mobile Elevating Work Platform) certifications are a plus. The Company may provide training and certification opportunities following hire at its discretion.

Special Requirements

  • Ability to personally travel to or obtain transportation to job sites locally, regionally, in-state, and out-of-state as needed; evening and weekend work may be required.

Pay

$35 – $45 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)

Schedule

Dayshift, Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, weekends and nights as needed.
