Commercial Door Shop- Cutdown Operator

Job Summary

Cut length and width of commercial wood doors, rerail, and edge band as required. Adhere to safety policies and regulations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Perform all job operations safely according to company safety policies.
• Read and prioritize work tickets using product knowledge and reading skills.
• Set up daily schedule based on work tickets and trade skills.
• Measure and cut door slabs to specified dimensions.
• Rerail, glue, and edge band each door slab as required.
• Bevel edges of door slabs as needed.
• Inspect finished products for quality using product knowledge and work ticket.
• Report damaged materials to the Commercial Door Shop Supervisor.
• Mark damaged materials with labels provided by the supervisor.
• Move products to the staging area for the next machining operation.
• Aid in shop housekeeping tasks such as sweeping, storing, and cleaning.
• Must understand how to complete and locate orders in the system.

Required Education & Experience

• At least 18 years old
• High School diploma or GED
• Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language
• Hand and power tools experience relevant to the carpentry field
• Ability to use measuring devices accurately
• Experience in finish carpentry or assembly of finished wood products
• Product knowledge of doors and door trim
• Prior experience in a team environment

Physical Demands

• Standing/Walking: 8 hours per day on a concrete floor
• Stooping/Reaching/Bending: continuous throughout the day
• Overhead Lift: up to 7 lbs. without assistance, up to 14 lbs. with assistance
• Lift/Grasp: with dominant hands and fingers up to 25 lbs. without assistance, up to 50 lbs. with assistance
• Carry/Grasp: with dominant hands and fingers up to 60 lbs. without assistance, up to 120 lbs. with assistance
• Push/Pull: with dominant hands rolling carts of interior door products up to 600 lbs. without assistance, up to 1200 lbs. with assistance
• Vision: near and far sighted
• Hearing: must hear machinery sounds
