Commercial Building Inspector

About the role

SAFEbuilt is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Building Official. This position will be responsible for overseeing the building department's operations, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal building codes, and providing technical guidance to clients.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the review and approval of construction plans and permits
• Inspect buildings and construction sites to ensure compliance with building codes
• Provide technical guidance and training to clients on building codes and regulations
• Respond to inquiries from clients and the public regarding building codes and regulations
• Prepare reports and documentation related to building inspections and code compliance
• Participate in code enforcement activities and investigations

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in building inspection or related field
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes and regulations
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Qualifications

• Experience with building permit processing and plan review
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Knowledge of building inspection software

Pay

$80,000 - $90,000 annually
