Commercial Building Inspector

About the role

SAFEbuilt is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Building Official. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building codes and regulations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Review construction plans and ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations
• Inspect construction sites to ensure adherence to approved plans and safety standards
• Issue permits and maintain accurate records of all issued permits
• Conduct inspections of completed projects to ensure compliance with approved plans and safety standards
• Provide technical assistance to contractors and developers on building code requirements
• Respond to inquiries from the public regarding building code compliance

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in building inspection or related field
• Knowledge of local building codes and regulations
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Qualifications

• Experience with building permit processing and record keeping
• Knowledge of construction materials and methods
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends

Skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drafting software
• Experience with GIS mapping tools
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities

$60,000 - $70,000 annually
