Commercial Ag Lender

About the role

The Commercial Ag Lender is responsible for soliciting, negotiating, underwriting, and coordinating the closing of complex equipment, buildings, manufacturing facilities, and commercial real estate in compliance with Sauk Valley Bank’s lending policies and procedures. This role also develops business checking and deposit relationships with customers while ensuring compliance with all SVB policies, state, and federal banking regulations.

Responsibilities

• Engage in business development activities and solicit new business.
• Interview prospective loan applicants and request specified information related to loan and credit applications.
• Perform pre-qualification assessments and analyze financial conditions and risk of financing requests within SVB’s credit culture and current economic trends.
• Gather and analyze information to present financing requests to senior management or the Loan Committee for approval.
• Meet with existing or potential customers, visit loan sites, negotiate loan terms, approve loans within established limits, and recommend acceptance to the Loan Committee.
• Research credit inquiries and UCC filings to determine creditworthiness and appropriate collateral positioning.
• Ensure certification or deletion of collateral is handled by appropriate personnel.
• Negotiate, underwrite, and process renewals of credit facilities.
• Serve as a member of the Officers Loan Committee and attend Directors Loan Committee meetings.
• Maintain knowledge of the financial industry, economy, market conditions, rates, vendors, and competition.
• Review NSF and overdraft reports for assigned customers; approve or decline exceptions within established lending limits.
• Provide deposit and loan account ratings.
• Update and correspond with legal counsel and collectors on workouts, bankruptcies, and charge-offs to ensure precautionary measures are taken.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
