About the role

As the Commerce Editor for Allure, you will execute a clear content strategy that aligns with the brand’s vision while writing and editing shoppable, engaging editorial content. This role requires a strong background in the beauty industry and deep expertise in affiliate commerce. You will manage a high volume of stories, analyze performance metrics, and drive revenue through strategic partnerships. This position reports to the Senior Commerce Director for Allure.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a roster of freelancers, including pay scales, deadlines, and talent development.
  • Maintain and optimize Allure’s testing methodologies and UGC best practices.
  • Drive a clear editorial point of view for product and shopping recommendations tailored to the Allure reader.
  • Partner with the commerce team on shoppable newsletters.
  • Apply SEO and GEO best practices to commerce-driven posts and the editorial calendar.
  • Pitch and execute commerce partnerships.
  • Identify commerce opportunities by analyzing purchasing data, site analytics, competitive research, and consumer trends.
  • Participate in editorial meetings and collaborate with vertical editors to develop commerce opportunities aligned with Allure’s brand voice.
  • Coordinate with the Commerce and Audience Development teams to share data and best practices for editorial decision-making.
  • Optimize revenue opportunities with affiliate link partners and build direct relationships with retailers and brands.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience editing commerce content at a digital property, with prior beauty writing experience.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage a daily content calendar and shopping tentpoles.
  • Experience managing a team and working with freelancers.
  • Demonstrated experience in beauty product testing, documentation, and creating video-forward commerce content.
  • Familiarity with executing content across site, social, and newsletters strategically.
  • Solid knowledge of SEO tactics to attract a buying audience.
  • Experience analyzing performance across verticals, product categories, retailers, and content types to optimize revenue.
  • Experience managing product sourcing logistics at a digital property (editorial or commerce).
  • Strong organizational skills, a self-directed work style, and polished communication skills.
  • A self-starter who thrives in accelerating the growth of Condé Nast’s commerce business.

Pay

The expected base salary range for this position is $80,000–$94,000. Salary offers are based on skills, experience, and education. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, eligible candidates may receive discretionary bonus compensation. This is a guild position.
