Commerce Editor, Allure

About the role
Execute a clear content strategy that aligns with the brand strategy while writing and editing shoppable and engaging editorial content. This role requires a strong background in the beauty industry and a deep understanding of affiliate marketing. The position involves managing content and data, editing a high volume of stories, determining content clusters, and reporting on performance metrics. This role reports to the Senior Commerce Director for Allure.
Responsibilities
- Manage a roster of freelancers, including pay scales, deadlines, and developing new writer talent
- Maintain and optimize Allure’s testing methodologies and ensure best UGC processes and practices
- Drive a clear editorial point of view for product and shopping recommendations appealing to the Allure reader
- Partner with the commerce team on shoppable newsletters
- Apply SEO and GEO best practices to commerce-driven posts and the commerce editorial calendar
- Pitch and execute against commerce partnerships
- Identify categories that present commerce opportunities by studying purchasing data, tracking site analytics, performing competitive analysis, and researching consumer trends
- Participate in editorial meetings and collaborate with vertical editors to develop commerce opportunities that fit the Allure brand voice and vision
- Coordinate closely with the Commerce and Audience Development teams to share data and best practices that inform editorial decision-making
- Partner with existing affiliate link partners to optimize revenue opportunities, while building relationships with retailers and brands
- Serve as on-camera talent, demonstrating a strong presence and the ability to engage audiences authentically and compellingly
- Create and present product reviews and editorial content across multiple formats, including video and social-first platforms
- Capture, produce, and edit high-quality, social-first video content optimized for digital platforms
Requirements
- 4+ years editing commerce content at a digital property, with prior beauty writing experience
- Highly organized, with the ability to own a daily content calendar and shopping tentpoles
- Experience managing a team and working with freelancers
- Demonstrated experience in beauty product testing, documentation, and creating video-forward commerce content
- Familiarity with building and executing content across site, social, and newsletters strategically and efficiently
- Solid knowledge of SEO tactics to attract a buying audience
- Experience analyzing performance across verticals, product categories, retailers, and content types to optimize revenue generation
- Experience in managing product sourcing logistics at a digital property (editorial or commerce)
- Strong organizational skills, a self-directed work style, and polished communication skills
- A self-starter who relishes the opportunity to directly accelerate the growth of Condé Nast’s commerce business
Pay
The expected base salary range for this position is $80,000–$94,000. Salary offers are based on relevant skills, training, experience, and education. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates may also be eligible for discretionary bonus compensation.
