Description
The Community Outreach Specialist is responsible for driving engagement and participation in teen programming through effective recruitment, relationship-building, and program delivery. This role is accountable for executing outreach strategies to attract and retain participants ages 6 to 18 while building strong connections with schools, community organizations, and local stakeholders. The Community Outreach Specialist is also responsible for mentoring youth, coordinating schedules and activities, and ensuring seamless collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
Responsibilities
- Accountable for recruitment and outreach services to existing and potential participants
- Programming: Accountable for program delivery and services
- Mentor and engage participants in programming and services
- Collaborate, schedule, and coordinate activities with schools, community partners, and other internal/external programs
- Maintain school district, community, and CCPD relationships as needed to meet program objectives
- Document all services and contacts
- Accountable for accurate and timely paperwork, reports, and data entry
- Utilize all BGCGTC communication tools regularly and effectively
- Facility and child safety: Adhere to all organizational health and safety policies and implementation of all safety practices and procedures at assigned work locations
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect participants, staff, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Absorb discipline, de-escalate conflict between participants and/or others
- Obtain and renew CPR and First Aid certification by the deadline
- Be a positive role model
- Maintain control and make good decisions under pressure
- Represent the Boys and Girls Club in a positive manner
- Attendance: Regular attendance is required; arrive on time, work the required hours/shift, and leave at the scheduled time
Requirements
- Education and Work Experience Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent, minimum of one year of experience working with at-risk or gang-involved youth, experience with management, fiscal responsibility, case management, and youth programming.
- Minimum Qualifications: Ability to work regular business hours, establish rapport and build relationships, work well with all levels of internal management and staff, accurately handle multiple tasks simultaneously, maintain confidentiality at all times, be detail-oriented and efficient, prioritize effectively and possess good judgment, excellent phone and email etiquette, excellent listening and interpersonal skills, efficient typing skills and administrative skills, knowledge of database systems and the ability to perform data entry, knowledge of technology and software, such as tablets, social media, cloud-based tools, and virtual meeting tools, must be able to pass agency background screens and drug screens at any time, must have reliable transportation, liability insurance, a satisfactory driving record, and a valid driver’s license for the operation of a motor vehicle relevant to carrying out duties.
- Preferred Qualifications: Bilingual, experience with recruitment and/or outreach activities, work experience or program knowledge of the Boys & Girls Club Movement (national and/or local Club).
Salary & Benefits
- Starting salary: $16.95 hourly
