About the role
Orange County Healthy Families is a home visiting program designed to support new and expectant parents and caregivers as a means to reduce stress and bond with their child. The Outreach Specialist is responsible for generating referrals for the program by conducting outreach to community providers and potential participants to increase program capacity.
Responsibilities
- Build positive working relationships with community service providers.
- Represent the program on community panels and conduct regular community outreach.
- Maintain existing relationships and develop new relationships with referral sources such as OBGYN, WIC, health clinics, hospitals, and community-based organizations.
- Become knowledgeable about the Healthy Families program and communicate its benefits to community members, professionals, and referred families.
- Work with a small caseload of families and conduct home visits:
- Engage families and develop relationships based on a strength-based model.
- Introduce and lead parent-child activities that support healthy attachment and foster optimal child development.
- Provide daily support and crisis management skills to families.
- Partner with families to create a plan with attainable goals to enhance parent and child well-being.
- Maintain thorough written records of home visits, family goals, and all required documentation.
- Attend mandatory Healthy Families trainings and complete ongoing trainings as identified by supervisor.
- Participate in weekly supervision and regular team meetings.
Requirements
- Excellent computer skills and comprehensive knowledge of Outlook, Microsoft Office, and data entry.
- Flexible schedule, including working evenings and possible weekend events.
- Effective written and communication skills.
- Valid unrestricted driver’s license and reliable transportation; must drive throughout Orange County.
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with families and children.
Physical Requirements
- Capable of sitting or standing in front of a computer for long periods.
- Able to work in an open-space floor plan.
- Capable of moving throughout the workday and following people served throughout the community.
- Work alongside co-workers within 3 feet.
- Able to move in tight spaces.
- Occasional lifting of 25+ pounds.
Pay
$20.00/hour + benefits package.
Schedule
40 hours per week with flexibility; 75% travel required.
