About the role

The Fall College Internship Program is a paid co-op/internship experience that provides undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to attend development workshops, network, and contribute to meaningful projects. Interns are mentored by their respective managers and participate in development workshops focused on key business concepts.

Interns may work within skills-based tracks including Information Technology, Business Administration, Actuarial, Human Resources, Analytics & Data, Communications, Finance, Marketing & Sales, Project Management, Clinical Studies, Customer Experience, Digital Operations, and other technical or non-technical degree programs.

This internship is paid and may reside in either a technical or non-technical area. Housing is not provided.

Responsibilities

• Support the development of an enterprise AI-powered Appeals & Grievances solution in partnership with the Advocacy organization, aligning with the Innovation & AI Center of Excellence strategy to improve operational efficiency, reduce administrative burden, accelerate decision-making, and scale AI capabilities.
• Transform a highly manual, document-intensive workflow into a streamlined, AI-assisted process supporting intake, case preparation, clinical review, decision support, and member communications.
• Work with a mentor on key strategic projects and assignments that vary based on business needs and departmental opportunities.
• Perform non-technical and/or technical functions covering a broad range of business-related projects.
• Create and deliver a presentation at the completion of the internship.
• Adhere to high standards of integrity, supporting the company’s mission and values, and maintaining member privacy in accordance with corporate policies.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
• Perform other functions as assigned by management.

Requirements

• High school diploma along with proof of continuous college enrollment (full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program).
• Good academic standing.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interface with technical and non-technical staff at all levels.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment and deliver high-quality work.
• Strong teamwork skills and ability to establish good working relationships with peers.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and maintain strong attention to detail.
• Experience using a desktop computer in a professional environment and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proactive approach to work, displaying creativity and flexibility.
• Commitment to continuous improvement of skills and team functioning.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and on intra- and inter-departmental teams.

Qualifications

Desired majors include Software Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or similar degree programs.

Preferred skills or experience with:

• Artificial Intelligence
• Machine Learning
• Databricks

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work while sitting and/or standing at a workstation, viewing a computer, and using a keyboard, mouse, and/or phone for three or more hours at a time.
• Ability to travel across the Health Plan service region for meetings and/or trainings as needed.

Pay

Compensation ranges:

• Level I: $18.00 – $20.00 per hour
• Level II: $21.00 – $23.00 per hour

Actual salary will vary depending on factors including budget, prior experience, knowledge, skill, education, and internal equity.
