Our Fall College Internship Program is a paid co-op/internship experience designed for undergraduate and graduate students. Interns participate in development workshops, networking opportunities, and meaningful projects while receiving mentorship from their managers. The program offers tracks in Information Technology, Business Administration, Actuarial, Human Resources, Analytics & Data, Communications, Finance, Marketing & Sales, Project Management, Clinical Studies, Customer Experience, Digital Operations, and other technical or non-technical degree programs.

About the role

  • Explore scaling current models to better identify and stratify complex chronic conditions and Hierarchical Condition Categories (HCCs), enabling proactive and data-driven population health features.
  • Extract and leverage clinical data to enhance predictive accuracy and ensure robust coding compliance with CMS.
  • Optimize traditional NLP and ML solutions with AI to boost performance.
  • Work with a mentor on key strategic projects.
  • Handle varied work assignments based on business needs, departmental opportunities, and your qualifications.
  • Perform non-technical and/or technical tasks across a broad range of business-related projects.
  • Create and deliver a presentation at the completion of the internship.
  • Maintain high standards of integrity, supporting the company’s mission, values, and code of conduct.
  • Uphold member privacy in accordance with corporate policies.
  • Perform other functions as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma with proof of continuous college enrollment in a full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program.
  • Good academic standing.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment and deliver high-quality work.
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to establish good working relationships.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and maintain strong attention to detail.
  • Experience using desktop computers in a professional environment and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive approach to work, displaying creativity and flexibility.
  • Commitment to continuous skill improvement and team functioning.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand at a workstation for three or more hours at a time while using a computer, keyboard, mouse, and/or phone.
  • Ability to travel across the Health Plan service region for meetings or trainings as needed.

Qualifications

  • Desired majors: Data Science, AI Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or similar degree programs.
  • Preferred skills or experience with: Programming, Statistics, Advanced Modeling, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Deep Learning, Agentic AI, and/or LLMs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences at all levels.

Pay

  • Level I: $18.00 – $20.00 per hour
  • Level II: $21.00 – $23.00 per hour

Actual salary will vary based on factors such as budget, prior experience, knowledge, skills, education, and internal equity. The posted range reflects only one component of the total rewards package, which may also include group health/dental insurance, retirement plans, wellness programs, paid time off, and holidays.
