College Access Program Coordinator

This is a SCHEV-position that facilitates educational opportunity, access, and degree completion for low-income students in all Virginia Tech majors.

About the role

The coordinator will inform prospective students and their families about post-secondary education opportunities; advocate for Pell-eligible students participating in the CAC pre-college programs, help prepare students for a smooth high school-to-college transition, and gather data and assist with program evaluation. This position reports to the Associate Vice Provost for College Access. Limited telecommuting and hybrid working arrangements are possible.

Responsibilities

• Inform prospective students and their families about post-secondary education opportunities
• Advocate for Pell-eligible students participating in the CAC pre-college programs
• Help prepare students for a smooth high school-to-college transition
• Gather data and assist with program evaluation
• Work with multiple constituents throughout the state and region
• Travel and work some evenings and weekends

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or other credential related to education, or a combination of education and experience to be successful in the role
• Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work in a team-oriented environment
• Experience working with underrepresented and underserved students and their families

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

• Virginia Tech knowledge through education or work experience
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Experience with college access, student success, and retention strategies
• Familiarity with federal financial aid programs
• Basic data analysis skills
