Collector (Onsite)

Responsibilities

• Affords assistance to members, employees, and authorized parties with inquiries about delinquent and/or negative accounts.
• Ensures compliance with The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
• Strives to meet department and individual production goals as outlined by Collections Management.
• Communicates with members through both verbal and written means.
• Generates and mails collection correspondence in accordance with established timelines.
• Negotiates and establishes repayment arrangements based on defined guidelines after reviewing credit contract terms.
• Utilizes various skip tracing techniques to locate delinquent accounts.
• Updates account information and statuses.
• Sets up vehicle loans for repossession in adherence to policy and procedure.
• Documents all collection activities within the collections platform.
• Reviews records and transactions to correct misapplied payments and verify proper payment crediting.
• Trains collection personnel on relevant processes and procedures.
• Reports on collections status and efforts to management.
• Offers automated payment services such as ACH, Direct Deposit, and Allotment to facilitate recurring payments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Minimum 1 year of collection experience in a collection environment, preferably in a credit union or similar financial institution.
