About the Role

Responsible for the research, collection, and resolution of an assigned account portfolio in accordance with PharMerica’s Collections Policy and Procedures and the Consumer Credit Protection Act of 1977.

Responsibilities

  • Perform collection efforts for patient-level accounts, primarily private accounts.
  • Engage with responsible parties via inbound and outbound telephone calls, providing customer service by explaining billing details and following up on past-due accounts using approved collection techniques.
  • Resolve assigned accounts by collecting balances due or taking other necessary actions (e.g., write-offs, re-billing, in-house collections, or referral to attorneys/collections agencies) to relieve accounts receivable in a timely manner.
  • Maintain productivity records.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy billing associates to obtain accurate billing and resident information, re-bill accounts, and resolve unpaid claims through adjudication.
  • Research pharmacy accounts requiring special attention, as indicated on collection reports, and take necessary actions to collect money under the guidance of the Private Collection Manager/Supervisor.
  • Handle inbound correspondence and mail outbound collection letters for 90-day active/inactive accounts, as well as discontinuation of service letters, working with assigned pharmacy locations, nursing home accounts, and individual customers.
  • Assist the Private Collections Manager/Supervisor and other members of the management team on special projects as needed.
  • Perform other assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • High school graduate, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • 1 year of billing and/or collections experience.

Qualifications

  • Desired: Third-party billing or collections/billing experience in the healthcare industry; AS400 computer experience.

Skills

  • Required: Data entry, MS Excel and Word, basic computer knowledge, communication, problem-solving, detail orientation, and teamwork.
  • Desired: Medical billing and coding.

Pay

USD $18.00 - $24.00 per hour.
