About the role
The Collator Helper obtains raw material to be collated at specified lengths as determined by the Product Quality Department. Ensures the machine is always running properly and performs other tasks as needed. This position is for night shift working 9pm – 7:00 am, Monday/Tuesday and Friday/Saturday.
Responsibilities
- Obtain Kraft rolls for collating as needed
- Visually inspect rolls for damage; discard any damaged paper in the appropriate waste can
- Continually monitor raw materials for visual quality and line up; make any necessary adjustments
- Thread machine up; make splices and re-thread machine as needed
- Change out pallets and ensure corresponding tags are placed in each completed pallet
- Set up rolls for oncoming crew
- Regular attendance required
- Train in backup positions as required (Phenolic/Corestock)
- Operate multiple pieces of industrial equipment
Requirements
- One year’s work experience required
- Operation of equipment and machinery in a safe manner
- Knowledge of safety standards applicable to production areas and other pertinent rules/regulations governing
- Sufficient computer knowledge to input and retrieve data
Physical Requirements
- Heavy work involving pushing/pulling of material up to 100 lbs.
- Lifting up to 85 lbs. from floor to mid-thigh
- Lifting up to 50 lbs. from mid-thigh to shoulder
- Lifting up to 40 lbs. from shoulder to overhead
- Carrying up to 135 lbs.
- Standing and walking during a minimum ten-hour shift
Work Environment
Located in an environment with regular exposure to fumes or odors, temperature extremes, or loud noises which cause noticeable discomfort or moderate risk of accident or illness.
Schedule
Night shift: 9pm – 7:00 am, Monday/Tuesday and Friday/Saturday.
