About the role
We are looking for hardworking individuals with a mechanical aptitude to operate and maintain folding and booklet bindery equipment at our New Berlin, WI facility. On-the-job training is provided. This position interprets orders to determine document arrangement and number of copies.
Schedule
- Tuesday: 9am – 7pm
- Wednesday: 7am – 7pm
- Thursday: 7am – 5pm
- Friday: 9am – 5pm
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate bindery equipment according to job specifications, safe operating guidelines, and LPi processes to produce high-quality printed publications.
- Turn on and configure collating machines based on the press run list, adjusting paper grids, paper size, stitch type, trim, and fold settings.
- Load uncollated copies into the collating machine and feed tray, ensuring correct page order with each page in a separate feed tray.
- Run single sets of copies to calibrate the job and operate the machine to collate publications while monitoring finished copies for quality and accuracy.
- Maintain logs for production measures, equipment history, parts, and repairs.
- Troubleshoot and perform maintenance, including cleaning the equipment.
- Box, label, and prepare collated publications for shipping.
- Actively participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) training and initiatives by submitting Opportunities, Problems, and Ideas (OPIs) and collaborating on solution implementation.
- Engage in cross-functional and cross-center collaboration to generate ideas and share knowledge.
Requirements
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Dependable self-starter with excellent time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to apply written instructions to machine setup and maintenance.
- Skills to set up, operate, and maintain collating equipment.
- Understanding of product flow and associated recordkeeping.
- Knowledge of quality parameters for printed materials processed through the collating area.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement concepts, including waste reduction, 5S, standardization, point-of-use storage, and quality at the source.
- Must be able to speak and read English.
Pay
$19–$21 per hour, depending on experience.
