The cold forming B operator will set up and operate cold forming machines that forge parts from wire stock while progressing through the level B1 through B4 cold forming training program toward the level of Cold Forming Operator A. Responsibilities

• Work through successfully completing the level B1 through B4 cold forming training program to get to a Cold Forming Operator A within the recommended time.
• Safely sets up and operates various cold forming machines.
• Troubleshoots machine and part issues using a developing knowledge of upsetting, backward and forward extrusion along with piercing to make product to print.
• Receives general direction from team leader and works from set up sheets, detailed machine parts drawings, machine manuals, specifications, tool charts and instruction.
• Replaces worn and broken tooling, re-sets tooling, gauges work, and makes machine adjustments necessary to produce parts within specifications.
• Learns and becomes proficient at cut off station, transfer adjustments and repairs, kick out adjustments and wire diameter changes along with product adjustment troubleshooting.
• Wires up machine and follows progression pieces to make product.
• Inspects parts to verify correct dimensions against drawing specifications using various measurement devices.
• Diagnose and make adjustments to machine as necessary to produce good parts, referring more complex machine malfunctions to the A operator or team leader.
• Communicates with operators to exchange relevant information to the work at hand.
• Detects and reports faulty machine operation, defective material and equipment, drawing discrepancies and other conditions to leadership.
• Actively participates in continuous improvement activities to assist team in meeting goals including Dynamite Idea program, reporting near misses and 6S.
