About the role

Sabathani Community Center (SCC) is one of Minnesota’s oldest African American-founded nonprofits serving a multi-cultural community of more than 50,000 community members in South Minneapolis. SCC was founded in 1966 by a handful of concerned community members seeking to address social and economic disparities in underserved communities in the areas of youth programming, housing, health and education. The organization is a major resource hub expanding services within the South Minneapolis community.

Responsibilities

  • Direct Support and Documentation (85%)
    • Intake of participants
    • Examining participant income and family composition
    • Providing housing information and assistance
    • Inspecting units for compliance and housing quality standards (HQS)
    • Processing rental payments to landlords
  • Internal Support (10%)
    • Works closely with Sabathani’s CFO to process rental assistance payments
    • Develop or refine internal processes to ensure efficiency in communication and programming
    • Represents and promotes Sabathani’s mission and programs in a variety of public settings
    • Educates Sabathani Staff about referral, the application requirements, and application process
  • Other duties as assigned (5%)

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience
    • Associate degree in Human Services, Social Work, Housing Services, Community Development, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Minimum of two years of experience providing housing services, case management, homeless services, or related social service support
    • Experience working with individuals and families experiencing homelessness, poverty, housing instability, or other barriers to housing
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience working with HUD-funded programs, Continuum of Care programs, or HMIS
    • Certified HQS Inspector or trained in Nspire inspections
    • Knowledge of Hennepin County housing resources and community service systems
    • Experience with landlord engagement and housing placement services
    • Knowledge and experience with diverse groups of people of lower socioeconomic conditions
    • Demonstrate skills in conflict management
    • Competency or the ability to quickly learn QuickBooks (Intuit Software) and Sales Force platforms
    • Competency in MS Office: Word, Access, Publisher, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities

Pay Range

The Pay Range For This Role Is 30 - 30 USD per hour(Sabathani-Mpls)
