Pay

Starting pay: $18.00 per hour plus additional shift differential for evenings, nights, and weekends.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no employment gaps greater than 6 months in the past 36 months (extended to 18 months for layoffs or child/elder care)
  • Previous work history does not apply to applicants who have been full-time students consecutively for the last 36 months
  • Rehire criteria: minimum waiting period of 180 days; no more than 3 prior employments at Cobb/Tyson Foods
  • Must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview
  • Priority consideration for internal applicants and those with previous agricultural or production experience
  • Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid contact with avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.)
  • Must sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Animal Welfare Guidelines
  • Must comply with biosecurity requirements, including showering and changing clothing/footwear before entering the facility (provided by the company)
  • No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry; body piercings must be covered by appropriate clothing
  • Must be willing to wear company-issued facial coverings during the pandemic as an essential function of the job

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday, including holidays
  • Hours begin at 5:00 a.m. until the job is complete, typically averaging 40 hours per week
  • Schedule is subject to change based on production needs

About the Role

This position is responsible for vaccination, blood pull, movement, and handling of all Cobb products serviced by the Cobb Grandparent operation.

Responsibilities

  • Vaccinate GP chickens (50% of duties)
  • Move pullets (10% of duties)
  • Operate high-pressure and regular water hoses, maintain foot pans and hand sanitizers
  • Clean and disinfect Cobb vehicles
  • Move Spike males
  • Work alongside a farm caretaker to perform tasks such as gathering eggs, daily flock care (feed and water), house setup, maintaining grounds, preventive maintenance at the farm, and keeping a clean and organized work area (40% of duties)

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Must use safe lifting techniques
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds; may be required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds at times
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, talk, or hear
  • Drive a vehicle to and from job sites
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Work on wet, slippery surfaces and in hot, dry, dusty, wet, and cold environments

Tools and Equipment

  • Vaccination needles
  • Personal protective equipment: safety glasses, safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, rubber boots, ear plugs, and earmuffs
  • Chemicals commonly used: phenolic-based disinfectants

Safety

  • Follow all applicable safety policies and procedures, including Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Lockout/Tagout, and Personal Protective Equipment
  • Identify, address, and mitigate safety-related risks
