Starting pay: $18.00 per hour plus additional shift differential for evenings, nights, and weekends.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:00 PM or until the job is complete. This position averages 42 hours per week, including working holidays. Schedule is subject to change based on production needs and season.

About the role

This position provides general labor in vaccination, blood pull, live hauls, sorting, and movement of all Cobb products serviced by the regional Grandparent operation. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Performs live hauls, vaccination, blood pull, movement, sorting, and clean out of all Cobb products/facilities (35%)
  • Loads Cobb products into modules and onto trucks for transport to designated farms, other Cobb complexes, and/or processing plants (35%)
  • Cleans and disinfects poultry houses, vehicles, modules, and equipment (20%)
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area (10%)
  • Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice

Requirements

  • Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no employment gaps greater than 6 months in the past 36 months (gaps due to layoffs, child care, or elder care extended to 18 months)
  • Previous work history does not apply to applicants who have been full-time students consecutively for the last 36 months
  • Rehire criteria: minimum waiting period of 180 days; no more than 3 prior employments at Cobb/Tyson Foods
  • Applicants must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview
  • Priority consideration given to internal applicants and those with previous agricultural or production experience
  • Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid contact with avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.)
  • Must sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Animal Welfare Guidelines

Biosecurity & Safety

  • Jobsite is a biosecure environment requiring showering and changing clothing/footwear before entering (appropriate clothing and footwear provided by the company)
  • No jewelry may be worn except for medical ID jewelry; body piercings must be covered by clothing
  • Must follow all applicable safety policies and procedures, including Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO, and Personal Protective Equipment
  • Expected to identify, address, and mitigate safety-related risks

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Must use safe lifting techniques
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds; may be required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds at times
  • Regularly required to stand (majority of shift on concrete floor), walk, sit, use hands to handle objects/tools, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, talk, or hear
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Tools and equipment used: forklift, power tools, coops, syringes
  • Work environment: wet, slippery surfaces; hot, dry, dusty, wet, and cold conditions
  • Personal protective equipment required: safety glasses, goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, rubber boots, ear plugs (as needed), NIOSH-approved N95 particulate respirators (as needed)
  • Chemicals commonly used: formaldehyde, disinfectants, foamers
