Position Details: Hatchery Worker (Utility Position), Job Grade: Class 2, FLSA Status: Nonexempt, Reports to: Hatchery Prod Mgr, Location: Wadesboro Hatchery, Wadesboro, NC.

About the Role

This position is responsible for the wellbeing of the chicks in the hatchers to make sure they are comfortable at all times during the shift, checking seals inside setters. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities

• Assess chicks' comfort level by analyzing vent temperatures and normal traits of chicks every hour and a half until chicks are pulled; enter information into an Excel spreadsheet. (50%)
• Read and record setter and hatcher room temperatures. (20%)
• Assist maintenance to ensure trays are turning correctly on setter buggies.
• Dump cull eggs, pull empty farm and setter buggies to the Egg Room.
• Sort chicks to remove cull birds in accordance with Animal Welfare standards.
• Euthanize weak/ill chicks in accordance with company policy. (30%)
