At Bigham Cable Construction, Inc., as a Coax Splicer, you’ll work in telecommunications construction, splicing coaxial system networks for communication companies that provide internet, cable TV, and telephone services.

Responsibilities

  • With guidance, perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground
  • Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment post-installation
  • Ensure all splicing operations meet strict customer and industry standards
  • Safely navigate working at different heights, from underground to in the air
  • Complete basic daily maintenance of vehicles, including fluid checks
  • Document work performed through daily production reports, including marking up maps and keeping correct material usage records
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company
  • High school diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
  • Valid state driver’s license (cannot be provisional), including an acceptable driving record
  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam, resulting in a valid medical card
  • Six months of coax splicing experience or one year of experience in the telecommunications industry

Qualifications

  • Certified pole climber or capable of demonstrating proficiency as a pole climber (preferred)

Physical Abilities & Exposures

  • Routinely: work in confined spaces, operate vehicles and heavy machinery, squeeze, fine hand motion, work alone in remote locations with arms above shoulder level, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs, and lift greater than 55 pounds, use keyboard and mouse
  • Occasionally: use ladder and gaffs for climbing poles
