About the role
The Coagulation Laboratory Supervisor (Early Mornings) oversees and coordinates the day-to-day operations of the laboratory department, ensuring quality care and reporting any issues to the Manager.
Responsibilities
- Directs department activities with an emphasis on operational functions.
- Aids with administrative tasks such as accreditation applications, recruiting, and interviews.
- Manages equipment, materials, and supplies required in the section.
- Reports to Manager and performs duties delegated by Manager.
- Works at the bench when needed.
- Complies with and enforces all hospital and laboratory safety policies and procedures.
- Posts and modifies monthly schedules.
- Makes routine job assignments and monitors staff attendance.
- Ensures testing is completed correctly and in a timely manner.
- Maintains department records and logs.
- Evaluates for process improvement and participates in performance improvement activities.
- Participates in laboratory quality activities including quality monitoring, auditing, deviation documentation, and performance improvement.
- Documents deviations in RL solutions and addresses policy deviations or behavioral issues.
- Conducts team huddles and in-services.
- Completes annual competency assessments and evaluates others.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree with 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses including six semester hours of chemistry, six semester hours of biology, and twelve semester hours in any combination.
- Experience: 5 or more years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting with 1-3 years of progressive leadership.
- Licenses/Certifications: Nationally recognized certification through one of the following governing accrediations: ASCP, AMT, AABB, NASKL, ASCLS, HHS, ASHI, AAB, ABB, AMS, CRP, EBPH, Military or NILA.
