About the Role
The East Side Union High School District (ESUHSD) seeks a skilled and passionate battery percussion specialist to work with one or more of the district's high school Marching Band and/or Winter Percussion programs. Throughout the production, the coach will collaborate with the credentialed teacher at the school site, supporting students of varying skill levels. This role includes rehearsal preparation, instruction, and performance support at one or more school sites, contributing to a high-quality production for a diverse student body.
Responsibilities
- Direct all aspects of marching basics for battery percussion members
- Attend and assist the director at rehearsals
- Attend and assist at performances as scheduled with the director
- Foster student creativity, discipline, and teamwork in a culturally responsive and inclusive environment
This is a seasonal position tied to a specific production: one season for Marching Band or one season for Winter Percussion.
Requirements
- Experience in battery pedagogy, rehearsal planning, and implementation
- Experience teaching high school-aged students
- Experience teaching small and large group instruction
- Must complete an online application, submit a resume, and provide letters of recommendation/reference
- Selected candidates must pass fingerprint clearance and provide current TB test results prior to employment
