About the Role
The East Side Union High School District (ESUHSD) seeks a skilled and passionate composer/arranger to write music for one or more of the district's high school Marching Band and/or Winter Percussion programs. Throughout the production, the composer/arranger will work alongside the credentialed teacher at a District High School, supporting students of varying skill levels. This role includes design, rehearsal preparation, instruction, and performance support at one or more school sites, contributing to a high-quality production for a diverse student body.
Responsibilities
- Design the music for the season-specific production
- Attend and assist the director at rehearsals as scheduled
- Attend performances as scheduled with the director
- Stay informed about the director's goals and timelines/deadlines for materials to be produced and/or learned by the students
- Foster student creativity, discipline, and teamwork in a culturally responsive and inclusive environment
This is a seasonal position tied to a specific production: Marching Band (one season/production) or Winter Percussion (one season/production).
Requirements
- Experience with music composition, transcription, and/or arranging for Marching Band and/or Winter Percussion
- Experience teaching high school-aged students
- Experience teaching small and large group instruction
- Must complete an online application and submit a resume and letters of recommendation/reference
- Selected candidates must pass fingerprint clearance and provide current TB test results prior to employment
