About the role
The East Side Union High School District (ESUHSD) seeks a skilled and passionate Color Guard specialist to work with one or more of the district's high school Marching Band and/or Winter Guard programs. Throughout the production, the coach will collaborate with the credentialed teacher at the school site, supporting students of varying skill levels. This role includes rehearsal preparation, instruction, and performance support at one or more school sites, contributing to a high-quality production for a diverse student body.
Responsibilities
- Teach and refine movement and equipment work for the production
- Work with all members to achieve technical excellence
- Attend and assist the director at rehearsals
- Attend and assist at performances as scheduled with the director
- Foster student creativity, discipline, and teamwork in a culturally responsive and inclusive environment
This is a seasonal position tied to a specific production: one season for Marching Band or one season for Winter Guard.
Requirements
- Experience in equipment and dance elements related to the Color Guard activity
- Experience teaching high school-aged students
- Experience teaching small and large group instruction
- Must complete an Edjoin online application and submit a resume and letters of recommendation/reference
- Selected candidates must pass fingerprint clearance and provide current TB test results prior to employment
