Main Duties And Responsibilities
- Supervise CNC Machine Operations: Oversee the setup, programming, and operation of CNC machines to produce aerospace shims and detail parts. Ensure that operators follow established procedures and operate machines safely and efficiently.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to our team of CNC machinists and operators. Assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure that production targets are met. Promote a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Train and develop CNC machine operators by identifying training needs and providing ongoing training and development opportunities. Stay updated with industry advancements and new machining technologies.
- Organize, plan, and implement shift assignments; coordinate daily and weekly workloads with the General Manager to ensure overall on-time deliveries of quality products.
- Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure that our products meet customer specifications and industry standards. Conduct regular inspections, measurements, and tests to verify product and process conformance. Perform root cause analysis as necessary, while building a culture of continuous improvement.
- Establish clear communication within and between work centers and other factory processes/departments; utilize effective delegation skills within work teams. Apply Lean Manufacturing techniques and 6S to identify opportunities for quality and production improvements. Conduct timely investigations of all safety incidents within the CNC Machine department, ensuring employees are working safely and following all safety procedures and guidelines.
- Program and set up CNC machines by collaborating with the engineering team and leading programming teams to create and optimize CNC programs. Lead the CNC machining team in machine set-up, tooling selection, and fixture preparation and design to ensure accurate, repeatable, and efficient production.
- Coordinate with maintenance staff to schedule and perform routine maintenance on CNC machines. Troubleshoot machine issues, diagnose malfunctions, and ensure timely repairs to minimize downtime. Document and maintain accurate records of production data, including output, scrap, and downtime. Prepare regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as productivity, quality, and machine utilization.
Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience supervising CNC machine operations in an aerospace or similar manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to manage and train a team of CNC machinists and operators.
- Strong understanding of CNC machine operation, programming, and maintenance.
- Experience with quality control and assurance practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with others and adapt to changing priorities.
- Flexible scheduling to accommodate production deadlines and shifts.
