Main Duties And Responsibilities
- Supervise CNC Machine Operations: Oversee the setup, programming, and operation of CNC machines to produce aerospace shims and detail parts. Ensure that operators follow established procedures and operate machines safely and efficiently.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to our team of CNC machinists and operators. Assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure that production targets are met. Promote a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Train and develop CNC machine operators. Stay updated with industry advancements and new machining technologies.
- Organize, plan, and implement shift assignments; coordinate daily and weekly workloads with the General Manager to ensure overall on-time deliveries of quality products.
- Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure that our products meet customer specifications and industry standards. Regularly inspect, measure, and test products and processes to verify conformance.
- Audit work processes to ensure consistent production standards; conduct root cause analysis as necessary, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Communicate effectively within and between work centers and other factory processes/departments; utilize effective delegation skills within work teams.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing techniques and 6S to identify opportunities for quality and production improvements. Conduct timely investigations of all safety incidents within the CNC Machine department, ensuring employees work safely and adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines.
- Collaborate with engineering team and lead programming teams to create and optimize CNC programs for efficient manufacturing processes. Lead the CNC machining team in machine set-up, tooling selection, and fixture preparation and design to ensure accurate, repeatable, and efficient production.
- Coordinate with maintenance staff to schedule and perform routine maintenance on CNC machines. Troubleshoot machine issues, diagnose malfunctions, and ensure timely repairs to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of production data, including output, scrap, and downtime. Prepare regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as productivity, quality, and machine utilization.
Qualifications
- Must have a strong background in CNC machine operations and possess a valid OSHA 10 certification.
- Experience supervising and training CNC machine operators.
- Knowledge of quality control and Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Ability to work effectively with others and maintain a positive work environment.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
