Primary needs are for individuals located in the Northeast part of the United States, including but not limited to: Connecticut, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. Those outside of the Northeast region are welcome to apply as we may have other opportunities in other locations.
Responsibilities
- Install, demonstrate, qualify, repair, or alter independently Fives machines (mechanically, electrically, and CNC) or associated equipment in customer's facilities.
- Perform duties following verbal or written instructions given by Tech Support, Service Coordinator, or Service Manager, or using information contained in drawings, service documentation, or other user documentation.
- Operate machines and associated equipment in customer's facilities to demonstrate or qualify equipment, or observe qualification runs conducted by customer personnel.
- Assure that machine accuracy and quality are in accordance with specifications.
- Notify Tech Support or Service Coordinator when deviations from specifications occur, or when problems are encountered.
- Write complete service reports by procedures.
- Instruct customer's personnel to operate, maintain, and/or repair machines and equipment, emphasizing necessary safety precautions.
- Notify customer of any unsafe operating practices observed.
- Provide input for the improvement and development of company products.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Work overtime and/or "off-shifts" as required by business needs.
- Work with and interact with other people on a routine basis.
Requirements
- Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent; two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a passport and credit card.
- Ability to read and understand international print symbols.
- ISO 9001 & 14001 awareness and compliance.
- Ability to use general hand tools.
- Ability to read, analyze general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Good working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet generation software, and the general use of internal service and communication systems.
- Positive attitude, clean and neat appearance, and a willingness to converse in a positive, interactive way.
- Commitment to the highest quality of work to serve customers effectively and efficiently, and as a sales tool for the Company's products.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to use hands to finger and handle.
- Frequently required to reach with hands and arms and taste or smell.
- Occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include color vision.
Work Environment
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; and vibration.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Travel Requirements
- Up to 85%-90% travel.
- Extensive time on the road: 2 weeks on the road, 1 weekend home, 2 weeks on the road, 1 weekend home.
- Flexibility to make quick adjustments to travel arrangements based on customer or company need.
- Travel is mostly domestic, with opportunity for international travel.
