CNC Operator - A Crew

Job Purpose

As a CNC Operator at VulcanForms in Devens, MA, you will operate CNC Lathe and/or Mill Machines to support manufacturing based on skillset and shop demand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to operate a CNC lathe (including work holding, kitting of tools, touching off of tools/establishing offsets, reading of manufacturing drawings, and first article inspection) on FANUC, DMG MORI, Okuma, and controls.
  • Ability to operate a CNC 3 or 4 Mill (including work holding, kitting of tools, touching off of tools/establishing offsets, reading manufacturing drawings, and first article) on Fanuc, DMG MORI, and Okuma.
  • Experience with utilizing a pre-setter offline for tool offsets is a plus.
  • Experience with quick-change tooling is a plus.
  • Operate and set up on the machines within the department.
  • In addition to running machines, the Machinist will periodically inspect parts during production to monitor for consistent dimensional and visual quality.
  • Responsible for continuously monitoring equipment and tooling.
  • In the event of a breakdown or other event that would disrupt the process, follow the instructions on the Process sheet, Drawings, and/or Programs.
  • Support training of more junior team members on all aspects of machining.
  • Helps others identify issues and troubleshoot their work.
  • Interface/communicate with Quality, Engineering, and other team members.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment clean and orderly and follows prescribed safety regulations.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience with 3 and 4 CNC Milling Centers, 2-axis and multi axis, live tooling lathes, experience with the controls listed in the Key Responsibilities section above.
  • Ability to read Blueprints and have a good understanding of GD&T.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Adhere to and enforce the company's health & safety policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to and enforce the company's quality policies and procedures.
  • Good hand/eye coordination.
  • Preferred Graduate of Advanced Machine Technology Course.
  • Knowledge of 5S/6S.
