CNC Machinists
The Arab, AL site of Orchid, a combined entity of Tecomet and Orchid, is situated near Huntsville, Alabama, known for its high quality of life. Established in 2007, the site has been part of the Orchid family since 2012, boasting a workforce of approximately 200 dedicated professionals. Orchid specializes in advanced machining of complex instruments for the large joint, spine, and trauma markets, with key products including instruments, implants, and trials.
About the role
The CNC Machinist plays a crucial role in producing medical devices by operating multi-axis CNC machines. This position requires the ability to identify X, Y, Z, and 0 coordinates and operate multiple machines simultaneously, including Lathes, Mills, and Plunge machines. The role involves running shop work orders, completing inspection documentation, and performing daily maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Performs basic machining functions to produce parts.
- Operates multiple machines simultaneously.
- Maintains proper machine performance by monitoring operations.
- Completes shop work orders, inspection documentation, and daily maintenance sheets.
- Makes off sets and adjustments to machines with moderate supervision.
- Advocates for the health and safety of self, co-workers, customers, and the community.
- Ensures adherence to quality and compliance standards by following procedures, work instructions, and forms within the Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Completes all required training.
Qualifications
- High School or equivalent (preferred)
- Leverage in Lean Manufacturing (preferred)
- Experience in Medical Device Manufacturing (preferred)
- One to two years of experience operating machining equipment in a manufacturing environment (preferred)
- Experience operating CNC Mills or Lathes independently (required)
- Experience using measuring tools (such as calipers, height gauge, indicator) (required)
- Experience reading basic blueprints (required)
