About the role
NOV Texas Oil Tools, a leading specialty manufacturer and supplier of well control equipment for intervention operations, is seeking CNC Machinists to produce quality parts in Conroe, Texas.
Responsibilities
- Produce quality parts on CNC machines (lathes, milling machines, etc.) with minimal supervision.
- Load parts, prove tapes, operate controls, set offsets, perform advanced edits, deburr, and inspect parts for conformance to requirements.
- Interpret drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Report dimensional discrepancies to supervisor immediately.
- Measure and mark dimensions and reference points on materials or work pieces.
- Detect equipment malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machines as needed to ensure quality production.
- Report all machine malfunctions and required tooling to supervisor; verify raw material before starting jobs.
- Follow job operations outlined on work orders and ensure part numbers are labeled during manufacturing.
- Operate forklifts and lifting devices (e.g., overhead cranes) for part movement.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area; adhere to all safety and environmental policies and programs.
- Use personal safety devices as required by company policy; report unsafe activities, productivity losses, or injuries.
- Assist in training new personnel and cross-train in other areas to meet production schedules.
- Work around chemicals in assigned departments and interface with manufacturing personnel.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities and comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in a production machine shop on CNC equipment.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, geometry, algebra) for calculating material fabrication.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions and communicate in English (written and oral).
- Adaptability to a changing work environment, competing demands, and unexpected events.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, weekends, and changing schedules.
- Good working knowledge of oil and gas components.
- Working knowledge of CNC lathes, machining centers, and horizontal borers.
- Knowledge of machine programming languages (e.g., Mazatrol, Fanuc).
- Understanding of engineering drawings.
- Ability to pass a background check, physical, and drug test.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
