CNC Machinist

What You Will Do

  • Work from drawings, sketches and specifications in completing various machining operations.
  • Perform machine set ups to obtain close tolerances, fitting and alignment of machined parts.
  • Obtain required inspections on first pieces of a run according to prescribed procedure and performs inspections on work-in-progress using a wide variety of measuring devices.
  • Complete and maintain all necessary records of time, part counts, first piece inspections, and requisition forms, etc. for each job.
  • Make jigs, fixtures or other specialized non-production devices as qualified and assigned.
  • Perform first piece inspections on basic product for other machinists, as qualified and assigned.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance of machines according to PM schedule.
  • Troubleshoot drawings, machining, tooling, programming, material, etc. and make competent decisions pertaining to job at hand.
  • Utilizes Geometric Dimension & Tolerance (GD&T) as called out on print.
  • Ensure proper machine set up and accurate interpretation of prints and specifications to prevent damage to material. Detects errors with frequent tolerance/quality checks.

What You Will Bring

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Some trade school or on-the-job training is required to become proficient in most phases of the job.
  • Technical training in shop math and blueprint reading is necessary to learn the job.
  • 2+ years of experience as a CNC machinist.
  • Mental/Visual/Physical Effort: Walks, stands, reaches, and bends frequently. Periodic lifting of moderate to heavy items may be required. Possesses good hand/eye coordination.
  • Physical Hazards: Exposure to normal machine shop environment with periodic noise. Limited disagreeable factors present.
  • Work Arrangement: Onsite.
