PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
- Operates multi-axes computer numerical control (CNC) milling machines or lathes to machine surfaces of metallic and nonmetallic work pieces.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Loads material in machine. Starts machine and observes cutting operation
- Ability to finish set up of a machine with minimal assistance and within a reasonable time frame
- Makes offsets independently to finish the set-up process
- Sets up and replaces tools without supervision
- Recognizes tool wear before dimensions are affected
- Ability to make basic changes to programs on machines
- Compares numerical data display with specifications on operations sheet
- Adjusts tool lengths and fixture offsets if required
- Makes basic changes to programs on machines
- Monitors tooling usage for maximum cost effectiveness
- Responsible for the accuracy and quality of the part
- Able to understand and document requirements of Inspection Plans
- Able to stop processes to ensure quality
- Responsible for machine turnovers to adjacent shift operators
- Works overtime as required
- Other duties as assigned

Requirements
- Education and/or Experience: Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or at least one-year related experience and/or training
- Languages Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, routers and inspections procedures; Ability to read and understand G and M code programming
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry or ability to use a trig book; Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations preferred
- REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
