CNC Machinist

About the Role

Reporting to the Director of Parts Production, the CNC Machinist will program and operate Alloy’s CNC machines in our in-house CNC shop. This role provides feedback to the applications engineering team on part feasibility and machinability, while developing creative and scalable solutions to support Alloy’s Stack Forging™ process. A critical position in our production operation, this role influences the manufacturing process of nearly every part delivered. This is a full-time, onsite role requiring 5 days per week.

Responsibilities

• Engage with Sales and Applications Engineering in pre-sales discussions, offering feedback to facilitate the manufacturing of customer parts.
• Program and cut parts, purchase materials and tooling (currently using CAMWorks).
• Identify and implement novel fixturing solutions for parts that are difficult to indicate repeatably.
• Collaborate with the Engineering and Quality Teams to correctly dimension drawings and create datums that align with manufacturing workflows.
• Generate accurate forecasting and scheduling of production work.
• Maintain digital organization, updating work statuses, best practices for file storage, and traceability.
• Serve as an active member of the Safety Committee, owning safety and training within the machine shop.

Requirements

• 7+ years of CNC Programming and Machining experience, including tooling selection and setup.
• Experience in setup and machining of aluminum castings or other parts where each piece of starting material varies slightly.
• Experience in setup and machining of 3D-printed parts.
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments to verify product quality.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a machining environment.
• Experience developing and executing programming, processing, operational/set-up sheets, and work instructions in line with ISO procedures.
• Ability to develop manufacturing plans for high-volume production.
• Authorization to work for any employer in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship available).
• Ability to access information subject to U.S. export control laws (EAR/ITAR); offer conditioned on authorization to receive controlled items without sponsorship for an export license.

Pay

$75,000–110,000 dependent on experience, qualifications, and education level.
