CNC Machinist 2nd Shift

About the role
The Machining Floater is primarily responsible for the operational skills of a Braze Technician and cross-training in different areas of the machine shop, including but not limited to EDM operation, Manual Lathe, Knee Mill, Die Plate Inspection, and Die Plate return.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints
- Set up and operate CNC Mills and Lathes including Manual Machines on the shop floor
- Establish zero and reference points for each part to be machined
- Understand work holding systems with Manual and automated machines
- Read and understand specific measuring tools related to the work area (e.g., micrometers, depth mics, calipers)
- Work from set-up sheets provided by programmers
- Understand the efficient use of each machine on the floor
- Install machining programs into the machine
- Send correct offsets to each tool being used
- Monitor and replace worn tools as needed
- Dimensionally and visually inspect the product to ensure it meets all print and customer requirements
- Consider quality, accident prevention, occupational safety, and environmental safety within scope of responsibility
- Perform other tasks as assigned by management
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent education (additional technical skills a plus)
- Machining Fundamentals I & II course (will be taken after hire date)
- Machining/manufacturing background related to the position
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly organized and efficient in approaching tasks
- Independent self-starter with ability to problem solve and anticipate issues
- Strong team player with a commitment to customer focus
Qualifications
- Machinist / Tool Maker apprenticeship card (e.g., journeyman) – desirable
- Technical training/certifications – desirable
- CNC Programming / Set up / Operation experience – desirable
- Wire and plunge EDM experience – desirable
- Certificate in Machining – desirable
Work Environment
Work is performed in a machine shop environment with exposure to airborne particles, metal shavings, sharp cutting tools, and moving mechanical parts. PPE and hearing protection, including steel-toed shoes, are always required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, or bend for extended periods
- Ability to lift items up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Schedule
Monday to Thursday, 2nd shift. Possible weekends or holidays as needed.
Pay
$20.00 - $23.00 per hour
