About the role
A CNC Lathe Operator performs machining with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings and router instructions
- Set up and machine parts to blueprints and/or work instructions
- Select appropriate tooling
- Act as in-process inspector where required
- Generate Non-conforming Material Reports as needed
- Troubleshoot technical issues in repair process
- Identify necessary modifications to operator instruction sheets and communicate to Engineering
- Monitor consumable supply levels and communicate shortages
- Cross train in other areas of machine shop
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Communicate issues to supervisor
- Perform basic preventative maintenance on CNC Lathe
- Observe safety guidelines and wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary
- Other duties may be assigned
Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and work instructions
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Familiarity with precision measuring tools
- Ability to maintain tolerances of .0005 inch
- Basic math skills
- Proficient with hand tools
- Effective communication skills
- Proficient in use of precision measuring tools
- Minimum 3 years’ experience involving similar equipment, processes, measuring tools and machining operations
