About the role
The CNC Apprentice Trainer is responsible for training Machinist Apprentices in the fundamentals of machining through hands-on instruction and mentorship. The role involves guiding apprentices in the setup and operation of manual and CNC machine tools, inspecting and measuring finished components, and completing NIMS certification projects.
Responsibilities
- Train and mentor Machinist Apprentices in machining fundamentals, safe work practices, blueprint reading, G-code interpretation, and the production of quality machined components
- Develop apprentice knowledge and proficiency in manual machining operations, CNC machining, and related manufacturing processes
- Provide instruction on geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and ensure its proper application in manufacturing operations
- Support apprentices in troubleshooting machining issues, identifying root causes, and implementing process improvements
- Promote and enforce KJLC safety standards, including the safe and proper use of overhead cranes and lifting equipment
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements
- Communicate effectively and provide clear verbal and written guidance to apprentices and team members
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, craftsmanship, quality, and operational excellence within the machine shop
Qualifications
- Advanced Mathematical skills
- Ability to teach entry level machinist apprentice how to read and understand measuring devices
- Ability to teach entry level machinist apprentice how to understand blueprints and shop drawings
- Ability to teach entry level machinist apprentice proper procedures and safety
