CNA/Patient Care Tech - Family Centered Maternity Suite (Part-Time)
This position performs nonprofessional direct and indirect patient care activities including personal, physical and comfort needs of patients, under the supervision of a professional nurse. This position will provide high-quality patient care in coordination with licensed medical staff.
About the role
The position is available in multiple states: MD, OH, PA, and WV. Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma or equivalent, certification in Basic Life Support, and current certification in the respective state where services will be performed.
Responsibilities
- Observes and reports all patient concerns/changes in condition to the Nursing Staff immediately.
- Assists the Nursing Staff with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.
- Records the vital signs, assists in personal hygiene and other patient comfort measures.
- Records oral intake and outputs (temperature, blood pressure and other monitoring).
- Assists in specimen collection and other activities of assigned patients.
- Maintains a clean and safe environment to help prevent and/or control infections and to provide for safety of patients, visitors and employees.
- Reports all necessary equipment repairs to appropriate personnel according to departmental procedure in a timely manner.
- Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures according to departmental procedure.
- Communicates with Nursing Staff regarding any nutrition issues, such as poor appetite or verbalized lack of understanding of diet changes.
- Affords assistance with administrative tasks to support the department operations.
- Answers patient call bell and relays message to appropriate personnel.
Requirements
Prior patient care experience is preferred. Physical requirements include heavy/hard work, such as strength and stamina, lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, and walking. The work environment involves working closely with others, working protracted or irregular hours, working around biohazards, working around infectious diseases, working with or near the deceased, working with hands in water, and working with electrical hazards associated with patient care equipment.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
- Current Certification issued by state where services will be performed: MD: Certified Nursing Assistant through the Maryland Department of Health, OH: Nurse's Aide Certification through the Ohio Department of Health, PA: Nurse's Aide Certification through the Pennsylvania Department of Health, WV: Nurse's Aide Certification through the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.
