About the role
The Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) provides essential home care services to patients in their residences, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Assist with personal hygiene, bathing, grooming, and mouth care
- Support transfers, repositioning, and ambulation to promote mobility
- Administer basic nursing care and follow prescribed exercises under supervision
- Prepare meals considering client preferences and dietary needs
- Offer companionship and engage clients in activities tailored to their interests
- Perform light housekeeping duties and maintain accurate documentation
- Report changes in clients’ physical or psychosocial conditions promptly
- Adhere to care plans, ensure confidentiality, and follow EVV protocols
Qualifications
- Current certification with DFS
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Effective communication skills, including reading and following directions
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, and stand for extended periods
- Dependability, reliability, and a compassionate attitude toward patient care
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and ability to commute via personal vehicle
- Valid TB skin test, criminal background check, and drug screening
- Experience with paperless documentation and electronic charting
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekdays and weekends
Key Duties & Environment
The CNA spends most of their time providing direct patient care in clients’ homes, utilizing equipment such as blood pressure cuffs and stethoscopes.
Note: No medication administration is involved, and travel within designated areas is required.
