- Assists patients with activities of daily living and provides basic nursing care.
- Collects non-invasive body fluid specimens and gathers vital signs.
- Aids physicians and nursing staff members with procedures.

- Reports violations of laws, rules, regulations, or the SP Code of Conduct.
- Fulfills annual continuing education requirements.
Physical Requirements
- Lifts up to 50 pounds or up to 150 pounds with assistance.
- Pushes or pulls 150-300 pounds with assistance.
- Walking or standing most of the time while on duty.
- Visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity essential.
- Optimal auditory acuity required.
- Manual dexterity involving handling equipment and instruments essential.
- Clean, neat, and well-lit working environment.
- Subjected to unpleasant sights and odors, stressful situations, and hazardous or infectious agents.
- Climate control and ambient temperature variances.
Qualifications
- Demonstrates eligibility for employment in the U.S.
- High School Graduate or equivalent preferred.
- 6 months - 1 year of experience in the field or in a related area.
- Knowledge of state, federal, and accrediting body regulations and standards related to healthcare.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English, with additional languages preferred.
- Ability to comprehend written and oral instructions.
- Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for professional advancement.
- Must be computer literate with basic fundamental computer skills.
Duties And Responsibilities

- Assists in admission, transfer, and discharge of patients in a safe manner.
- Orders and/or notifies Charge Nurse of the appropriate supply needs.
- Makes copies of needed forms as necessary.
- Checks to ensure rooms are stocked with the necessary supplies and assists with cleaning and maintaining patient rooms.
- Collects and records Vital Signs, I&Os, and Accu-Checks in an efficient, accurate, and timely fashion.
- May perform phlebotomy, processing, and preparation of laboratory specimens.
- May administer EKGs and sends to appropriate place for reading.
- Reports any variation from normal values immediately to the Registered Nurse responsible for that specific patient for continuum of care.
- Carries out medical and surgical asepsis during treatments and special procedures.
- Follows standard/isolation precautions and safe practices in handling of biohazardous material.
- Appropriately handles clean and dirty linen.
- Responds timely to issues that require a decision.
- Sets priorities, evaluates the quality of his/her work.
- Looks for new approaches to problems and is able to adapt to new procedures and methods.
- Conserves resources and minimizes cost when possible.
- Communicates ideas for cost containment and reducing expense.
- Medical record documentation should be completed accurately for all cases.
