CNA Certified Nursing Assistant (PER DIEM)

About the Role

Under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse, performs basic nursing care procedures.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care procedures under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Follows treatment plan designed to meet the appropriate age, needs, and abilities of each resident/patient, including assisting with meals and nourishments, transferring using proper body mechanics and appropriate assistive devices, ambulation, bathing, toileting, dressing, and grooming.
• Observes and communicates pertinent information about the adult/older adult resident/patient’s condition to the appropriate facility staff.
• Takes and records pulse, respirations, blood pressures, and weight as needed.
• Documents care and observations on worksheets and EMR accurately and in a timely manner.
• Maintains cooperative relationships to enhance the efficient operation of the care team by providing support and assistance to co-workers.
• Adheres to infection control practices.
• Supports the psychosocial needs of the residents as per the plan of care and profile.
• Participates in educational and in-service meetings to update knowledge of techniques, guidelines, and regulations; must attend all mandatory programs.
• Meets basic requirement for 12 hours of continuing education per year.
• Uses equipment in an appropriate and safe manner.
• Adheres to standards of the Diligent Minimal Lift Program.
• Follows facility policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• 6 months – 1 year experience as a CNA preferred.
• State of Connecticut CNA Certification; or within 120 days of CNA Certification course completion.
