This position will work 30 hours per week.
Job Summary
This position is responsible for pre-visit planning, standard rooming responsibilities, assisting with procedures, discharge instructions and carrying out both administrative and clinical tasks as directed by a medical provider. This position is instrumental in helping the patient feel at ease while collaborating with the provider throughout the patient's visit.
What you will do
- Room patients, perform and document vital signs and patient backgrounds.
- Cook up provider schedules and appointments, enter orders and prepare patient charts.
- Instruct patients and families as directed within scope of licensure or certification.
- Prepare patients and assist medical providers with in-office procedures and prepare and administer medications/immunizations.
- Maintain exam rooms and equipment to be within infection control standards. Ensure appropriate levels of medical supplies for each patient room.
Education Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program or Practical Nursing program.
- Minimum of 160 hours of direct patient care experience as a MA/LPN obtained through professional MA/LPN work experience or completion of student clinical rotations.
Required Experience Qualifications
- Current clinical experience as a Medical Assistant.
- Preferred: Current clinical experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of principles and skills needed for practical nurse or medical assistant to provide patient care.
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
- Fosters work and patient relationships through excellent interpersonal skills and behaviors.
- Ability to work under stressful or emergency situations with high concentration and energy level.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet changing demands.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Possess skills to effectively solve problems.
- Proficient in the use of EMR systems, computer, phone, and office equipment.
- Possess effective written and verbal communication.
Licenses and Certifications
- If holds other licenses that supersede CMA/RMA license may practice to the highest level of licensure with the approval of Quality Resources in writing.
