(CLS) Clinical Lab Scientist, Spec. - Per Diem - 140867

Per Diem position at Jacobs Medical Center, La Jolla Clinical Lab - Blood Bank. Appointment at 20% with variable 8-hour shifts, Monday through Sunday.

Description

Under the supervision of a Senior Supervisor CLS, perform a wide variety of technical procedures in a section of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Responsibilities include:

• Method development, modification, and parallel testing
• Collaboration on or preparation of abstracts or manuscripts
• Repair of laboratory instruments
• Sample processing, reagent preparation, and data entry
• Phlebotomy duties
• Daily assessment of overall workload and assisting coworkers as needed
• Processing specimens and performing waived and non-waived testing without direct and constant supervision
• Reporting results without supervisor or director review for tests within scope of licensure and competency

Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and other shifts as needed.

Requirements

• Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or appropriate sub-specialty license issued by the State of California, Department of Public Health
• Graduation from college with a major in a relevant field
• Two (2) or more years of relevant experience
• Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of duties assigned to the position

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• Experience with SoftLab LIS and Epic
• Experience with automated instrumentation: Sysmex XN, Iris IChem\IQ, TEG, and Roche Cobas
• Generalist skills in Hematology/Chemistry

Pay

Annual Full Pay Range: $162,822 (prorated for appointment percentage less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $77.98
