About the role

Under the general supervision of a Senior Clinical Lab Scientist Supervisor, perform independently in a wide variety of technical procedures in a section of the Clinical Genomics Department. Other responsibilities include method development, modification, parallel testing, collaboration on or independent preparation of abstracts or manuscripts, repair of laboratory instruments, sample processing, reagent preparation, data entry, and phlebotomy duties.

Responsibilities

• Acknowledge and address the overall workload for areas needing help without being reassigned by the supervisor.
• Assess and perform daily tasks as assigned, reviewed by supervisory personnel or designee.
• Process specimens, perform waived and non-waived testing without direct and constant supervision, and report results without supervisor or director review for the tests within their scope of licensure and training.

Requirements

• Graduation from college with a major in a relevant field.
• A current Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or appropriate sub-specialty license issued by the State of California, Department of Public Health.
• Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of duties assigned to the position.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include a degree in a relevant field and a valid CLS license.
• Prior clinical validation experience and new test development for at least 1 to 2 years is preferred.
• Experience in Molecular Genetics and Clinical Genetic Molecular Biology is also preferred.

Pay

The annual full pay range is $104,838 - $138,476, with an hourly equivalent of $50.21 - $66.32. The actual pay will vary based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

Days, 8-hour shift, Monday-Friday, with weekend rotation as needed.
