About the role

We are seeking an experienced Lead Cloud Infrastructure & Systems Engineer to provide technical leadership across hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure environments. This role will lead the design, implementation, optimization, and support of enterprise infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and traditional datacenter environments. The successful candidate will bring broad, hands-on expertise across servers, operating systems, cloud services, storage, networking, web/application platforms, databases, monitoring, security, and automation. Beyond day-to-day engineering, this role will help drive infrastructure modernization, automation, operational improvement, and complex technology projects. The position requires someone who can move comfortably between hands-on technical engineering, architecture discussions, project execution, data analysis, and executive-level communication.

Responsibilities

  • Cloud & Infrastructure Engineering: Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and highly available infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and on-premises datacenters; provide technical leadership across Windows and Linux environments, servers, storage, networking, databases, and application infrastructure; evaluate infrastructure architecture and recommend solutions that improve scalability, resilience, security, and cost efficiency; support hybrid-cloud integration and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
  • Systems & Application Platforms: Provide hands-on expertise across enterprise web and application platforms, including IIS, Tomcat, WebSphere, and similar technologies; troubleshoot complex infrastructure and application issues across multiple technology layers; partner with application, database, network, security, and operations teams to resolve technical issues and improve system performance.
  • Automation & Modernization: Identify opportunities to automate infrastructure deployment, monitoring, administration, and operational processes; develop and maintain scripts using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar technologies; drive initiatives that reduce manual effort, improve reliability, and increase operational efficiency; research and evaluate emerging cloud and infrastructure technologies.
  • Project & Technical Leadership: Lead the technical execution of complex infrastructure and cloud projects from planning through implementation; manage milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, and technical deliverables across multiple stakeholders; provide technical direction to engineering teams and contribute to architectural and technology decisions; influence teams and stakeholders without relying solely on direct authority.
  • Monitoring, Security & Operations: Leverage enterprise tools for infrastructure monitoring, security, vulnerability management, logging, analytics, and service management; support ITIL-aligned operational processes and continuous service improvement; promote infrastructure security, availability, performance, and operational resilience.
  • Data & Reporting: Analyze infrastructure, cost, inventory, performance, capacity, risk, and operational data to identify trends and improvement opportunities; develop reports, dashboards, and presentations for technical and executive stakeholders; use advanced Excel and data analysis skills to reconcile information and support technology decisions.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Partner with Architecture, Security, Applications, Development, Operations, and business teams; clearly communicate complex technical concepts, project status, risks, recommendations, and business impacts; develop and maintain accurate technical documentation, architecture diagrams, standards, and operational procedures; provide mentoring and technical guidance to other engineers.

  • Strong understanding of hybrid infrastructure and enterprise datacenter architecture.
  • Broad technical knowledge across servers, operating systems, cloud services, storage, networking, databases, applications, and security.
  • Strong scripting and automation experience using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar technologies.
